I am currently in the process of making this exact helmet and I would like to ask a few questions if you don't mind. First being the little vents by the visor, did you attach them after bondo stage of the build, if so how? Also the big vent things on the side of the helmet, in the pep file and during the build I noticed that they don't have tabs to attach to the helmet, how did you manage to attach them? Also GREAT job on this helmet!
I think when you say vents by the visor your meaning the whisker looking things, if so I attached those after the helmet was painted and finished using Loctite epoxy putty, also the rebreathers I taped in place from the outside then fiberglassed them into place, hopw this helps some
This is actually my favorite helmet in Reach. Do you think you can tell me the scale you used? Every time I use pepakura, I end up getting the scale either too big or too small. Although, when I use the scales that people prefer, it comes out PERFECTLY. Thanks, and awesome job!
Pricing depends on the condition of the cast, most people pay with Pay pal, Cast that require very little clean up usually run about $140 cast that require some bondo work or lots of sanding start at $75 and go up from there, let me know if its somrthing your interested in and I can get pics of what exactly im talking about
Legitmate dude! me and a freind are currently finishing our helmets and he has an EOD on the way. Great to see how it turns out. Also your bondo work is impeccable, i can't even give constructive criticism.
Yes im on the 405th For the visor I used a smoke tinted Vforce paintball mask lens For weatering I dry brushed on the silver on areas that would get scratched under normal use, also chiped off the paint in the areas where the helmet may take that type of abuse under normal use, and to make it dirty looking, it was blackwashed with a black acrylic that was watered down allowed to dry a bit then rubbed down to where it looked ok
as for any other cool stuff, all I can say is patience when working on this stuff, I have built quite a few helmets and props so I have made alot of mistakes and how to avoid them, it just takes practice, I am building another Reach EOD helmet at this time that is more game accurate to make a mold of so I can cast it
